INSURANCE THAT'S RIGHT FOR YOU

As dedicated providers of insurance policies for the beauty industry, Professional Beauty Direct are proud to offer insurance for Dermaplaning therapists throughout the UK. With £6 million as our standard cover, our insurance policy covers treatment, public and product liability. With Professional Beauty Direct you have the benefit from instant cover through our quote and buy system, with the option to extend your package to cover property/equipment and teacher training (subject to requirements) for an additional fee.

Please note, we do require that you hold an NVQ Level 2 or equivalent in Beauty Therapy for us to cover you in this treatment.

As a certified Dermaplaning provider, your job entails the use of equipment and techniques to improve the skin condition and complexion of your customers. In addition to leaving your customer’s skin with a youthful glow, an effective Dermaplaning service can remove dead skin cells and help protect against signs of aging.

Currently in the industry, there are numerous beauty treatments available to exfoliate the skin but Dermaplaning has steadily grown in popularity. With social media trends, many people are now investing in this beauty procedure. Now considered as one of the most favourite skin treatments, Dermaplaning treatments are offered by many therapists and salons.

We at Professional Beauty Direct know that your dedication towards providing the ultimate beauty service is fuelled by true passion and determination to be the best at what you do. Unfortunately, no matter how thoroughly you carry out the treatment and how many precautions you may take, there is always a risk of an incident happening. If an incident occurs that leaves a physical impact on a customer, there is the possibility that they may make a compensation claim against you or your business and this may lead to repercussions to your business.

When purchasing our beauty insurance with dermaplaning cover extension, you will be covered in the event that an incident occurs, whether you inadvertently cause cuts to your customer’s face or the customer has a reaction to your post-Dermaplaning facial treatment products. Whilst we hope that you never have to use our Dermaplaning insurance cover, our aim is to make sure that your finances and reputation remains protected, rain or shine. If you have an NVQ L2 in beauty and a dermaplaning qualification we can offer you insurance for this treatment.

What is Dermaplaning?

Previously, Dermaplaning was offered as an alternative to chemical exfoliation treatments, which can be more costly and can take a considerably longer time to heal from. It is also used to prepare the skin for other, complex procedures such as skin resurfacing or deep chemical peels.

The procedure is undertaken by using a certified surgical blade to “scrape” off the top layer of dead skin cells on the face, on the sides of the neck and beneath the chin. After appropriately cleansing and prepping the skin, the beautician holds the skin taut and uses the blade at a 45-degree angle to exfoliate the skin and remove any vellus hairs (also known as peach fuzz).

After the initial Dermaplaning treatment, many therapists also provide an additional aftercare service to enhance the exfoliation. This may include a facial with a salicylic, lactic or glycolic acid peel, depending on the customer’s skin type. A wonderfully beneficial treatment for the skin, Dermaplaning can:

  • Promote healthy new cell growth
  • Remove fine facial hair temporarily
  • Smooth acne scars
  • Provide a smooth surface for makeup application
  • Prep the skin to absorb products easily
  • Help with pigmentation and dark spots
  • Diminish the appearance of fine lines
  • Generally, create a more radiant appearance

While Dermaplaning is considered as being a generally low-risk procedure, there are still some side effects which may occur. This includes small cuts caused as a result of using sharp blades, redness, patchy skin pigment, allergic reaction to post-Dermaplaning products and the development of whiteheads. Other unlikely side effects may include scarring and infection.

What Does Our Insurance for Dermaplaning Include?

At Professional Beauty Direct, you have the benefit of a Dermaplaning insurance policy that has your best interests at heart. We would hate for your business to suffer due to unforeseen circumstances, which is why we have done our best to create a standard policy that covers product, treatment and public liability. In addition to our £6 million standard cover, we also offer the option to extend the Dermaplaning insurance cover for an additional amount for teacher training (subject to requirements) and professional kit/equipment cover. Our insurance for Dermaplaning includes:

  • Public liability cover can protect you on the occasion that an accident happens in your workplace or at a client’s house. This extends to injuries that are unrelated to the treatment you provide to your customer or unintentional damage caused to their personal belongings such as a spillage on a client’s carpet.

  • Product liability cover can protect you if a customer is left with an injury or reaction to a product that you may sell after the treatment.

  • Treatment liability cover is one of the most important liability covers as it protects you if your Dermaplaning technique causes direct injury to the customer’s face, providing you follow our terms and conditions:
    • a consent form is completed and signed by the client prior to the treatment
    • a new sterile scalpel (which will be disposed of immediately into a sharps container once treatment is completed) is used for each client
    • You have a level 2 beauty qualification and have completed an approved training course in Dermaplaning delivered by an appropriate practitioner
    • You do not carry out the treatment on any person under the age of 18
    • You provide aftercare advice in writing
