INSURANCE THAT'S RIGHT FOR YOU

At Professional Beauty Direct, we are proud to offer a unique insurance plan for NVQ3 or equivalent qualified beauty therapists offering Cryotherapy treatments. As leading insurance providers in the health and beauty industry, we dedicate our time to making sure that your business is covered against compensation and liability claims from as little as £141.50 per year.

Please note, we do require that you hold an NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Beauty Therapy for us to cover you in this treatment.

Our standard cover plan includes treatment, public and product liability cover of up to £6 million. For additional protection, we have created a simple-to-use quote and buy system, which offers our clients the option to extend the insurance package to cover property/equipment and teacher training, for a small fee.

As a Cryotherapy therapist, you know that despite all the health benefits that the treatment provides, it does not come without risks. Some of your customers might have underlying, undiagnosed conditions that could lead to some serious side effects.

Many therapists believe that they are covered against compensation claims resulting from physical injuries through their Public Liability cover. Unfortunately, this is not the case. It does not cover injuries arising from the treatment itself, such as skin burns, one of the more common side effects of cryotherapy.  In addition to public and products liability cover we offer treatment risk insurance as standard with our policies which insures you against injury or property damage arising from the treatment itself.

Even though you, a certified and qualified Cryotherapy provider, do your best to inform your customers of all possible risks, you cannot account for all of the health conditions that your customers might fail to disclose or maybe aren’t even aware of. It is known that cryotherapy should not be used by people with conditions such as hypertension, heart diseases and anaemia. It is not safe to use by those suffering from seizures or pregnant women either.

If you fail to recognise that your customers fall under any of these categories or they were to experience other bad reactions to your treatment, such as skin irritation or frostbite, you might end up being caught up in legal proceedings and compensation claims that could cost you your business.   Professional Beauty Direct Cryotherapy Insurance Cover can help you and your business to save your reputation and allow you to continue to practice.

What is Cryotherapy?

Cryotherapy is a fairly new treatment that literally means “cold therapy”. It is believed that cryotherapy has many health benefits, both physical and psychological.

Cryotherapy is a treatment that involves the use of freezing temperatures applied to various areas of the body. Some people prefer treatments that focus on one particular area - such as cryotherapy facials - which only see cold applied to the face. Others believe that they benefit the most from a whole-body treatment, offered through specially designed cryotherapy chambers. Topical treatments are carried out using cryotherapy wands, ice or gel packs.

A typical length of a cryotherapy session is 3-5 minutes. It feels unpleasant to undergo the treatment at first, especially for those who are not used to colder temperatures, but most agree that the sensation tends to get more tolerable with each treatment.

Cryotherapy is generally safe, but some side effects such as burns to the skin might be observed. It is also possible, though less common, for the treatment to lead to a patient’s death - this only happens if they had a condition that they did not disclose or was not yet diagnosed.

Precisely for this reason, you should always make sure to fully explain the treatment process to your clients and inform them of the risks associated. As a cryotherapy therapist, it is your responsibility to enquire about your patients’ health and ask questions around specific issues that carry the most risk, such as heart conditions and high blood pressure.

We can’t always foresee what is going to happen and should, therefore, always be prepared for the unknown. Our cryotherapy insurance cover will enable us to work with you and the claimant directly to resolve any disputes that might be raised against you and your business.

What does our Cryotherapy Insurance include?

At Professional Beauty Direct, we understand how important it is to offer a transparent insurance policy. We would hate for your business to suffer as a result of unforeseen circumstances and an insurance plan that didn’t have your best interests in mind. This is why we created a policy with easy to digest language, covering product, treatment and public liabilities. In addition to our £6 million standard cover, we offer you the option to extend your Cryotherapy insurance plan to cover teacher training and professional kit/equipment. Our insurance for Cryotherapy includes:

  • Public liability cover is a protection to be used in the event of an accident happening in your workplace or at a client’s house. The insurance cover extends to injuries that are unrelated to the treatment you have carried out, such as slips and falls and accidental damage to property like liquid spillage on an expensive rug.

  • Product liability cover was created to compensate those customers who might be left unsatisfied by the products you use during your treatment.

  • Treatment liability cover is a must-have cover for all therapists. It protects you and your business against any claims resulting from injury caused directly by the treatment you provided. This could be anything from skin redness to more serious skin burns. This insurance plan extends to any pre- or aftercare services included in the procedure.
