The Small Print

When you receive your new business documentation or your renewal confirmation documentation. Do you put them away to look at later? A year could go by, but you still haven’t looked at them!

It is very important that you look over the documentation to check for any errors, to ensure the cover is correct and to understand what you need to tell us during the year to ensure your cover is not compromised:

Are the documents correct? Do they show the correct salon address? Do they show the correct title of your company? Please check the details and let us know if anything is incorrect.

Is your contents sum insured at the correct level? This amount should cover the total value of everything at risk in your salon for example, your stock, your contents and anything you are responsible for as a tenant such as flooring, decoration for example. If you are underinsured, you would not receive the full value of a claim. Your claim settlement amount would be reduced. If this needs amending please let us know.

The cover is based on the statement of fact. Are these statements answered correctly? With Is there something that should be disclosed to us that hasn’t been as this could affect a claim that you make? For example, if you have previously been declared bankrupt, insolvent, had a CCJ or IVA, and the statement of fact shows this statement as no then you need to tell us immediately.

Have you read your renewal email that says you need to tell us if there are any changes in your circumstances? The renewal quotation that you receive assumes that there have been no changes in your circumstances during the year, but do you know what changes you need to tell us about? Do you still trade the same way? Do you offer more treatments? Have you had a criminal conviction? Have you changed your business name? It is always better to telephone us to check if there have been any changes and we can let you know if it affects your cover.

Have you read the policy wording? The policy conditions relating to the treatment cover are listed in the policy wording. Are you carrying out the treatments in accordance with these?
