Are you a nail salon owner looking to improve sanitation in your salon? It’s now more important than ever to ensure your salon follows the latest hygiene standards to keep the health and well being of you, your employees, and your client’s safety.
When working in a busy nail salon, you see people come and go every hour of every day. This increases the risk of cross-contamination every time a new client walks through the salon doors. Whether it be fungi, viruses, or bacteria, germs can easily spread from surface to surface if you don’t play your part. From cleaning, sanitising and disinfecting surfaces, tools, and furniture, salon hygiene should be at the forefront of everything you do.
Our easy-to-follow nail salon sanitation checklist highlights the tasks we would recommend that you perform to ensure your salon is a safe, clean, and hygienic environment for you, your employees, and your clients.
- When booking customers in for treatments make sure you ask if they have been suffering from any symptoms of COVID 19 such as a high temperature, cough, or change in taste or smell, or if they have been in close contact with anyone who has symptoms. If they answer yes to this then you need to ask the customer to re-book their appointment for another date when they are symptom-free.
- Book client’s appointments with adequate spaces between to allow for cleaning between appointments and avoiding customers crossing paths - you could ask clients to wait in their vehicles until you text them to tell them it is safe to enter the salon.
- Make sure your record cards are up to date. If you find that there has been a risk of exposure to the virus you will need to be able to quickly and easily contact people under the track and trace system
- Wash your hands before and after each client
- Ensure your client washes their hands before and after their treatment
- Ensure you dispose of gloves and replace with a new pair before every client
- Dispose of single-use items such as files, buffers, orangewood stick, etc.
- Replace table towels after each client
