Have you thought about becoming an accredited trainer?

At Professional Beauty Direct, we accredit over 200 trainers for a variety of treatments from manicures to hair treatments to semi-permanent make-up.

To help you get more of an insight as to what it is like to be an accredited trainer with us, we asked Rachael Wilders of Rachael Wilders Academy to answer a few questions!

  1. Why did you want to become a trainer?

I had a successful salon career for some years, and I really excelled in nail art in the early days. I had clients travelling from all over to come to me for nail art. That then lead in future years to enquiries from other nail techs, asking if I could show them, help them, and train them in art and techniques. There was a definite gap in the market for great value modern training for all level nail techs, alongside support and confidence building. Above all I wanted high standard results for my students at every level.

I knew I wanted to teach long-term. I didn’t know where to start, however over a few years I went from teaching for another nail company, to having my own classes accredited with PBD, working alongside salon life. I soon had a waiting list. Along with my husband, we then went on to develop a professional nail product and running an academy. We now have a growing team of educators throughout the UK offering my branded classes to the same great value, high standards.

  1. What is the most rewarding part of your job?

We have an ethos running throughout the team and classes. We teach following our KISS ethos, Knowledge, inspiration, skills, and support. By following this we ensure the same high standards throughout each class. The most rewarding part of my job is seeing both my students and educators thrive in their growing businesses and watching their confidence bloom.

  1. How did you find the accreditation process with Professional Beauty Direct?

So easy! I honestly cannot recommend the company enough. Whenever I have industry friends asking about offering classes, recommending PBD is the first thing I do. The initial accreditation process was simple and quick, and made really easy. Having dealt with PBD for some years now, every time I add classes, have an enquiry or a suggestion; I can email or pick up the phone and it’s dealt with easily. They’re so supportive!

  1. Why would you choose us over other providers?

For the same reasons as above, PBD are professional, easy to deal with and bang up do date with expertise and guidance. I particularly love their social media at the moment too, it feels like they’re right at the forefront of the industry.

  1. One piece of advice you would give to someone who is thinking about becoming a trainer?

This is going to sound really cliche, but the industry pro’s that do well are the ones that glow with confidence.

Immerse yourself into the industry, focus on it, grow with it. Dedicate time, money, energy and focus to continuing your own professional development, both in nail and business skills. If you want to excel as an educator in your specialist field, you need to grow and evolve so your business grows and evolves too. Ultimately, growing and thriving as an educator will build your own confidence and in turn show you as a more attractive choice for potential students. If you are confident in your business, it’ll radiate off you in waves. Cheesy but true!
