With Christmas on the horizon, your stock and contents are more susceptible to theft so we want to ensure you are you doing what you can to prevent this from happening.

Hopefully this Christmas will look better than it did last year, so you don’t want to have your spirits dampened by suffering a theft. If you have your stock and contents stolen, this could mean that you do not have the products and equipment available to carry out treatments on your clients. There’s also the time and inconvenience of dealing with the police, gathering documents, and making a claim.

Have you looked at your premises and thought about steps you can take to prevent a theft at your premises. Here’s what you can do:

• Move items away from windows so they can’t be easily seen or reached
• Make sure your premises is secure
• Consider getting an alarm system installed
• Have anti shatter plastic installed on your windows
• Keep hiding spots illuminated with sensor lights
• Put blinds up which can be closed when your premises is shut
• Don’t keep cash overnight in your premises
• Get to know your neighbours so they are aware of different comings and goings
• Mark your equipment with UV marking pens which will help increase the chance of your property being returned to you
• Have a chat with your local police station
