Figures show that 1 in 60 jobs in the UK are within the beauty industry. The national lockdown meant many beauty professionals were unable to earn any money for over five months.
Fortunately, the industry came together on Monday 3rd August and launched the Beauty Backed initiative to help.
Beauty Backed is a campaign to raise money for beauty professionals who have been financially hit by Covid-19. It was launched by a group of influencers, industry experts and workers. Beauty expert Caroline Hirons, BABTAC chair Lesley Blair and British Beauty Council CEO Millie Kendall are all involved with the fundraising.
All funds raised by this campaign will be donated to the Hair & Beauty charity. A charity which offers financial support to those facing a financial strain.
Samantha Grocutt, President of the Hair & Beauty charity, says, “The stats speak for themselves; this time last year we were helping 94 beneficiaries but we’re now helping 167 beneficiaries which is a huge increase for a small charity, especially as fundraising is very hard to do during the crisis.”
How can you apply for funds from the Beauty Backed initiative?
If you’re a beauty professional in need of urgent financial support, you can apply for a one-off grant or regular payment by clicking on the below link
You’ll need to complete a form and include details of:
Your application will then be discussed by the Hair & Beauty Charity Committee and you’ll be told if your application is successful within 21 days.
At Professional Beauty Direct we hope this helps those who have struggled through this pandemic and hope it can get you back on your feet ready to start trading again.
